The SARI -Football for Unity event proudly supported by the NEIC Initiative and held in the heart of the NEIC over the last number of weeks has now concluded. Congratulationss to all who organised, supported and participated!!! Nelow you can find a write-up on some very tense and exciting final that took place in the glorious sunshine over last weekend!!
GIRL’S UNDER-18 TOURNAMENT: MARINO DIVAS 5 V EAST WALL 2
This was a close game, closer than the scoreline might tell you. Marino was the more experienced side, which proved to be the difference between the teams in the end.
BOY’S UNDER-16 TOURNAMENT: MOSNEY ROVERS 1 V EAST WALL 3
Both teams displayed great skill but East Wall’s firepower secured victory at the finish.
WOMEN’S 18-25 TOURNAMENT DIVERSE CITY 0 V LE PENSIONATE 1
This was a very closely fought game, Diverse City were favourites to take the title but Le Passionate demonstrated great determination and resilience to fend off their opponents and eventually score the only goal of the game to take the honours.
MEN’S 18-25 TOURNAMENT: SARI 2 3 V RENFORD REJECTS 2
This proved to be a game of skill and great effort from both sets of players and was a worthy final. SARI2 took the lead early on only to be pulled back by the Renford Rejects. Just on half time SARI2 regained the lead and were ahead 2-1 at the break. The Rejects however stuck to their task after the break and drew level with a well-worked move just before the second water break. The game looked like it was heading towards additional time and possibly even penalties before SARI2 conjured up what proved to be the winning goal only minutes before the end and held out to take the title.
Congrats to everyone involved, great to see such high quality football and teamwork on display in the NEIC!!
