Mission statement The Talbot Centre is committed to developing supportive relationships with children, young people and their families whose lives have been affected by drug and/or alcohol use in the North Inner City

The focus of work at the Talbot Centre is on three levels:

  1. Prevention / education with children and young people at risk.

  2. Young people using drugs and their families.

  3. Education / Health Promotion /Community Development

The primary focus of this position is to strategically develop formal liaisons with teachers, trainers, community, voluntary and statutory workers in the north inner city of Dublin. This involves updating their knowledge base, assisting them with regular reviews and supporting them with the implementation of school’s / agency’s substance misuse policy as appropriate.

Job Type: Temporary Position (initially funded until the end of June 2022. It is then contingent on continued funding by the Department of Education and Skills.)

Job Hours: Part time 15 hours a week over three days within standardised primary school year.

The Education Worker will be based at the Talbot Centre and will report to and be accountable to the Project Leader.This post will be administered by ACET Ireland, 50 Lower GardinerStreet, Dublin 1.

Qualifications: A recognised third level degree qualification in education, teaching, social sciences or addiction and a drug education qualification \ experience in delivering drug education.

Salary: € 41.52 per hour for worked hours within the standardised primary school year. Public Holidays are paid on the basis of 3 hours per day.

All candidates are required to secure Garda Clearance.
