Best of luck to all the nominees at the Dublin North Central Garda Youth Awards on Saturday

An Garda Síochána, the Dublin North Central Division are proud to announce the now annual Dublin North Central Garda Youth Awards in association with Croke Park Stadium which will take place on Saturday, 15th February.

This is the third year the awards have been organised in the Dublin North Central Division and they celebrate outstanding young people between the ages of 13 and 21 who are resident in the local community area covered by the Store Street, Fitzgibbon Street, Mountjoy and the Bridewell Garda Stations.

The awards recognise the good work being done by young people throughout the communities of the Dublin North Central Area and Awards will be considered for nominated young people who by their presence make their communities a better place to live.

The judging panel for this year’s awards are;

  • John Horan, Uachtarán Cumann Lúthchleas Gael

  • Ger Brennan, former Dublin GAA footballer

  • Inspector Aidan Flanagan, Mountjoy Garda Station

  • Gillian Collins, Belvedere Youth Club

  • Bridie Flood, Crinan Youth Project

Speaking at he launched the awards in November, Chief Superintendent Patrick McMenamin said that it is important to recognise the valuable contributions which our young people are making in society on a daily basis which often gets forgotten. An Garda Siochana have a number of programmes and initiatives centring on our young people and the Garda Youth Awards is one such initiative I wish to acknowledge the support DCC and our various sponsors.

Also speaking at the launch, Julianne Savage Croke Park’s Community & Public Affairs Officer said: “Croke Park is proud to continue our partnership with An Garda Síochána and support these vital community awards for our young neighbours. We have seen over the past two years, how these awards give us an opportunity to champion and showcase the effort and dedication of young people in our community and critically too, an opportunity for them to share their extraordinary experiences & stories.”

Also speaking at the launch was the 2017 Overall Award Winner Mark Harmon from Brádóg Youth Project.
