A Playful Street

A Playful City is a project exploring and responding to the need for more child friendly, playful, creative and inclusive spaces in Dublin City.

A launch event ‘A Playful Street’ was held on Sheriff Street Lower on Wednesday 13th September, planned in close collaboration with the local community, schools, Little Treasures Crèche, Dublin City Council, Gardaí, Early Learning Initiative NCI, Marino College, Swan Youth Service and After Schools Services from the area. The event allowed children, their parents and the wider community to come together for a few hours to ‘play out’ on their street without traffic.

Bringing children back onto the streets to play street games like skipping gave all ages the opportunity to have fun and be together in a safe environment. There was a great atmosphere of excitement with all of Sheriff Street Lower out to join in the caper; added to by the Garda band who entertained the large crowd gathered outside Little Treasures Crèche.
