Young stars shine bright in Croke Park! Eleven local winners celebrated at the Dublin North Central Garda Youth Awards

Heavy Hitters! Corinthians Boxing Club from Dublin 1 won the ‘Group Award’ at the Dublin North Central Garda Youth Awards in recognition of the contribution they make to their local community. The future’s bright! Mark Valente from Belvedere Youth Club in Dublin 1 won the ‘Community Safety Award’ at the Dublin North Central Garda Youth Awards in recognition of the anti-bullying initiative he developed to help other young people in his community. Jake Redmond was awarded the C District Award winner for the positive contribution he makes in his community which includes his role as a peer educator with Jigsaw, a local volunteer with Localise and his participation as a member of the advisory group for the Government led Citizens Assembly on the reform of education at the Dublin North Central Garda Youth Awards. This is the third year the awards have been organised in the Dublin North Central Division in association with Croke Park and eleven outstanding young people between the ages of 13 and 21 who are resident in the local community area covered by the Store Street, Fitzgibbon Street, Mountjoy and the Bridewell Garda Stations, received awards this year. The Champ! 15 year old Blaine Fitzgerald from Corinthians Boxing Club was one of four young people who received special achievement awards at the Dublin North Central Garda Youth Awards in recognition for his commitment to his sport of boxing. Tom Gaskin is the ‘U District’ Award winner for his positive contribution he is making in his school (St. Joseph’s Fairview) and his community through his involvement as a student ambassador for ‘Cycle Against Suicide’.
